Friends of SwPL

The Friends of the Swarthmore Public Library is a separate 501(c)(3) organization that raises funds and provides ample support to the library throughout the year. Use the link below to donate to the Friends’ Annual Appeal.

Employer Matching Gifts

Many employers sponsor matching gift programs and will match any charitable contributions made by their employees. If your company is eligible, request a matching gift form from your employer, and send it completed and signed with your gift. We will do the rest. Some companies match gifts made by retirees and/or spouses.

Planned Giving

Planned giving is any deferred gift intended to benefit the future of the Swarthmore Public Library. There are a variety of financial arrangements that will allow you to make a planned gift.

  • Bequest in Your Will: You may make a bequest of cash, stocks and bonds, real estate, personal property, or a percentage of your estate.
  • Life Insurance: You may designate the Library as beneficiary on your insurance policy or transfer the policy outright.
  • Individual Retirement Accounts: You may designate the Library as beneficiary of all or a portion of your account.
  • Trusts: A trust may be established to benefit the Library now or at a later time.
  • Annuities: You may make an outright gift to the Library and receive annuity payments until a specified time in the future.

Book Adoptions

Book adoptions are an excellent way to commemorate an occasion, celebrate a milestone, or honor a great achievement, while supporting the mission of the Swarthmore Public Library. When you adopt a book, you or a person you choose will be acknowledged on a bookplate in your selected item. If you would like to adopt a book in honor of or in memory of someone, please indicate this during your adoption. All book adoption donations are tax-deductible.

Please use the form below to adopt your book.

Sharon Ford Concert & Lecture Series

June 23, 2017. Don the Beekeeper from the Philadelphia Bee Company shares how bees work, what beekeepers do, and why the pollinators are so important to people and the environment.

Provided for by the Friends of the Swarthmore Public Library, the Sharon Ford Concert & Lecture Series honors former Library Director, Sharon Ford. The series has brought several performances and lectures to the Library that would otherwise be out of reach due to cost. Performances include Irish trio Meara Meara, Balkan Brass trio WP(trio)O, Scottish Country Dancing, and a Bee Education Family program by Don the Beekeeper.

The only way we can continue this series is through your generous donation.

Don’t forget to write a note that you would like the money to be earmarked for the Sharon Ford Fund. Thank you for your support!
