Friend of the Year 2009

Betty-Barbara Smart was named the Friend of the Year at the annual seasonal gathering in December.
She is retiring after many years of service to the library, both as a volunteer and as a member of the staff.
The Friends will donate new classical music to the library's collection in her honor.

Mission:

The purpose of the Friends shall be to foster closer relations between the Swarthmore Public Library and the citizens of Swarthmore; to promote knowledge of the functions, resources, services and needs of the library and to assist the library, through fund-raising, so that it can adequately meet the needs of the community.
